Eligible entities including internet service providers, providers in partnership with local governments, tribal governments, telecommunication organizations, co-ops, and nonprofits are invited to attend an overview and training to apply for Utah's Broadband Infrastructure Grant made available through the federal Broadband Equity access and Deployment (BEAD) program.
Registration and participation in the pre-application process are preliminary requirements for entities who wish to apply for Utah's
BIG grant. Once launched, the portal will be open for 60 days.
Only approved registrants can participate in the grant process when it opens later in January 2025.
Eligible locations to be served were verified through the recently completed state BEAD challenge process administered by the Utah Broadband Center.
Registration intake will ensure program funds are awarded to qualified applicants. Due to the funding's unique obligation to fully serve all locations across the state with high-speed internet, the pre-application process will guide the formation of grant project areas for the formal application.
The BIG registration and portal will open on October 22, 2024.
UBC will host an in-person "Registration and Pre-Application Overview" at the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity at
60 East South Temple Street in Salt Lake City on October 24.
Attendees are encouraged to explore the portal before the training. The portal link will be posted at broadband.utah.gov
